Located on E. Bidwell and Oak Avenue Pkwy, Lakeside Church's 27 acre property puts cyclocross racing front and center in Folsom for all to see. Racers will see plenty of typical Sacramento Cyclocross features with wide open fields, off camber grassy hillsides and a big paved start. Plus, Lakeside's terraced steps will be one of the biggest run-ups we have all season.
Orangevale Park was a favorite venue for many years as we kicked off a season, and after refining the course last year we're doing it again! With wide open grass, winding woods, and the big horse paddock sand pit it has all the true 'cross features.
Miller Park packs a punch in a narrow space. This sliver of park by the marina offers up a blank canvas of grass for the course designer to challenge you in many different ways. There's enough hillside to keep your legs burning and the change of the tides in the river will keep things exciting.
Folsom's Lembi Park has been a favorite over the years and it's clear why. This compact park has perfectly spaced trees to weave through and more elevation change than you'd think. There's the "challenge" run-up, plenty of off-camber opportunities and the sand pit to challenge your skills on a traditional grass course.
The Granite Bay trail system is a favorite for locals, with flowy multi-use trails around beautiful Folsom Lake. The park has ample parking, bathrooms and water access, and plenty of space for families to set up and hang out by the lake. After about a decade off, we bring SacCX back to Folsom Lake SRA, with a true CX course using natural features of the lake bottom when it recedes in winter time.
LangeTwins Winery is a favorite venue in the Sacramento Cyclocross calendar, and we're once again shooting for a race in November! (Figers crossed there's no smoke this year!) Cooler temps and the chance of mud mean the fun factor will be high. There are some run-ups and great off camber hills, and the crew at LangeTwins always takes hosting to a whole new level.
Gibson Ranch Park is an amazing venue on the Sacramento Cyclocross calendar. It's a massive park with rolling grassy hills and one of the more technical hillsides of the season is a 'crossers paradise. We have so much fun there, we decided to just make it a double-header weekend with two separate courses!
Johnson-Springview is an expansive park with a network of gravel roads, dirt paths and open fields surrounding a disc golf course that sits underneath an oak tree canopy. Complete with play structures for the kids and a picnic area, this park is outfitted for all day CX fun. We kicked off with this venue in 2016 and racing was fast and hot. Moving this venue back in the calendar will provide a completely different racing experience in winter conditions.
